DevOps Leads

Expired on: Jan 31, 2022

Role overview

  • The platform’s production readiness steward is the duty of business operations. This is performed by working closely with developers on the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of technology services. Throughout the delivery process, a business operations engineer will ensure that operational criteria such as system availability, capacity, performance, monitoring, self-healing, and deployment automation are met. Through our tooling and by advocating for change and standards throughout the development, quality, release, and product teams, Business Operations plays a significant role in guiding the DevOps revolution at Zechariah Technologies.
  • We achieve this transformation by supporting daily operations with a laser-like focus on triage, followed by root cause analysis based on an understanding of our products’ business impact.
  • Every biz operations team’s goal is to shift left in order to be more proactive and upfront in the development process, as well as to proactively manage production and change activities in order to improve customer experience and boost the overall value of supported applications.
  • Biz Ops teams also work on risk management by connecting all of our activities with a single point of accountability for compliance and risk reduction across all of our environments. By efficiently interacting with all important stakeholders, biz operations focuses on streamlining and standardizing conventional application specific support tasks and centralizing points of connection for both internal and external partners.
  • A DevOps job is to connect product and customer-centric priorities with operational requirements. We review our run state on a frequent basis, not just from an internal standpoint, but also to understand and provide input to our development partners on how we can improve our apps’ client experience.
  • We are searching for a Site Reliability Engineer to assist us in resolving issues, building our CI/CD pipeline, and leading Zechariah Technologies in DevOps automation and best practices.
  • Are you a natural problem solver who enjoys figuring out how things work?
Are you a CI/CD nerd that enjoys automating everything?
  • Do you have a poor tolerance for physical labor and attempt to automate as much as possible?
  • Through our tooling and by advocating for change and standards throughout the development, quality, release, and product groups, Business Operations is spearheading the DevOps transition at Zechariah Technologies. We need people who are willing to try new things and push the limits of what can be done with automation. Experience prioritizing needs and building partnerships across development, operations, and product teams is required.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in and improve the whole service lifecycle, from conception to deployment, operation, and refinement.
  • Examine the platform’s ITSM activities and provide input to development teams on operational issues or resiliency concerns.
  • Provide support for services prior to their introduction, such as system design consultation, capacity planning, and launch evaluations.
  • After services go live, measure and monitor availability, latency, and general system health to keep them running well.
Scale systems in a sustainable manner through mechanisms such as automation, and adapt systems by pushing for modifications that increase reliability and speed.
  • Support the application CI/CD pipeline in order to promote software into higher environments via validation and operational gating, and lead Zechariah Technologies in DevOps automation and best practices.
  • Develop a long-term incident response strategy and blameless postmortems.
  • Take a comprehensive approach to problem-solving by connecting the connections during a production event across the platform’s various technological stacks to reduce mean time to recovery.
  • Collaborate with a multinational team that spans numerous geographies and time zones.
  • Mentoring junior resources and sharing knowledge.
  • Design, execute and improve our Chef-based deployment automation. We’re looking for someone who has expertise authoring chef recipes/cookbooks as well as planning and implementing a Chef-based release and deployment process.
  • To build out the CI/CD pipeline, use Jenkins to orchestrate builds and integrate to Sonar, Chef, Maven, Artifactory, and other tools.
  • Enable code deployments to several lower environments. Current procedures must be supported, with a focus on automating everything as quickly as possible.
  • Design and execute a Git-based code management system that will allow for simultaneous deployment of different environments. Experience with branch management, code promotions, and version management automation is advantageous.

Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree in computer science or a similar technical field involving coding (e.g., physics or mathematics) or comparable practical experience is required.
  • Algorithms, data structures, scripting, pipeline management, and software design experience are all desirable.
  • A systematic approach to problem-solving, as well as good communication skills, a sense of ownership, and motivation.
  • Ability to assist in the debugging and optimization of code as well as the automation of routine operations.
  • We work with a wide range of stakeholders. It is necessary to have prior experience dealing with stressful situations and making quick decisions.
  • It is preferable if you have experience in one or more of the following areas: C, C++, Java, Python, Go, Perl, or Ruby are all examples of programming languages.
  • Interest in large-scale distributed systems design, analysis, and troubleshooting.
  • We need people who are willing to try new things and push the limits of what automation can achieve. Experience prioritizing needs and building partnerships across development, operations, and product teams is required.
  • Engineer with experience in industry-standard CI/CD tools such as Git/BitBucket, Jenkins, Maven, Artifactory, and Chef for employment in our dev operations team. Experience developing and implementing a CI/CD pipeline that gets code from development to production with high quality and minimal manual work is necessary.
